OK… what’s a SmartPhone?
A Smartphone is an iPhone, Blackberry, Android or other make that enables the user to go on the Internet. They’re used for cell calls, emailing, texting, surfing the web, banking, downloading movies, playing music, showing videos etc. SmartPhones do just about everything our desktop computer does. SmartPhones are becoming the device to help people run their lives because they want their information ‘on the go’.
And a ‘Scene’?
A ‘Scene’ is like a theme park. You go to that park because you like the theme of elements in the park. Similarly, you’ll visit a Scene on a smartphone because you’re interested in the ‘theme’ of that Scene. Here are a few examples:
- a Tourism scene would detail all there is to do in that town: restaurants, accommodation, events etc. Click on ‘restaurants’ and you’d get all the restaurants who are part of the Scene. Click on a specific restaurant and you’d get their menu, maybe their specials that day, even that hour. And all this information is designed for your smartphone screen.

First, the B&B gets 'hits' as a result of customers coming to the better known Tourism site. And now that there's a mobile site for the B&B (eg. "Bellevue House B&B "), any other online directory with that site's web address in it will lead the smartphone user to the B&B's mobile site. That means more phone calls, more leads, and more sales.
Does a Scene owner really own the Scene…. and can amend it forever?
Yes… and Yes. Allscenes only asks for a small licensing and hosting fee.
So, do I need two websites… a regular desktop site and a smartphone site?
NO! And this may be the largest benefit of our unique system. If you’re just starting, we suggest that you build your smartphone scene first! When a person comes to your site from any size of screen (e.g. smartphone, iPad, desktop monitor) our system knows to adapt your scene to fit whatever screen it’s going to. YES! As a matter of fact, your social media strategy will be more effective because social media portals are being so heavily used on smartphones.
